Marble Apple Magic Cake
(Leftover cake with marble cake base, apple, and milk-egg glaze)
Ingredients
300–400 g leftover marble cake (stale or fresh)
2–3 apples, coarsely grated
2 eggs
200 ml milk
2–3 tbsp sugar (depending on the sweetness of the marble cake and apples)
1 tsp cinnamon (optional, but very tasty)
1 packet vanilla sugar or some vanilla extract
1 pinch salt
Sliced almonds as desired
Butter or oil for the pan
Preparation
For the marble-apple magic cake, first grease the baking pan well. The leftover marble cake is roughly broken up and loosely placed in the pan to form an uneven, lightly pressed base. Then two to three apples are coarsely grated and evenly spread over the cake base. If desired, sprinkle some cinnamon on top to give the cake a warm aroma.
For the glaze, beat two eggs thoroughly with the milk, sugar, vanilla, and a small pinch of salt. Slowly pour this mixture over the apples and cake pieces in the pan so everything is well soaked. Sprinkle with sliced almonds.
Then bake on low heat for about 30 to 40 minutes until the surface is golden brown and the glaze is fully set.
After baking, let the cake cool slightly, as it cuts best when lukewarm. If desired, dust lightly with powdered sugar before serving or serve with vanilla sauce.
